A closer look at JTS Reader

It can read a list of text files sequentially, pausing between each one. You can read any text copied to the Clipboard from another application automatically, read a file by launching JTS Reader with a text file name as a parameter, or read a text string included on the command line when launched. This effectively turns your word processor or e-mail program into talking programs. You can record electronic books to tape, read a sequence of files, convert a text file into a WAV file, etc.

It is also useful for visually challenged and dyslexic people. It can use a verbal output interface, so it can be run without a screen reader.
