Spark : A simple, Java-based search utility for your computer designed to help you perform searches within your computer and on the Internet
Spark is a simple application that aims to offer an alternative to the default search utility in Windows, providing a desktop search engine that helps you quickly find the files you need.
Perform local and online searches
Not only that it enables you to look for documents and files in your computer, but it also allows you to perform online searches much easier and faster. It comes with support for popular online search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, Bing or Ask, while also enabling you to look for keywords directly on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, the package does not include an integrated web browser, so your queries are automatically redirected to the default Internet navigator and the results can be viewed there.
Launch apps, open websites and locations
The functionality of Spark is not limited to performing local and online searches. While its main function is related to finding files, it can also be used to launch applications, open websites or specific computer locations. To do so, you simply have to enter a location on your PC or a URL and press the 'Run' button.Another hidden function is text editing. You can type in or paste any text in the main form and press the 'Save' button to create a document of any format, be it plain simple TXTs, RTF or DOC files.
More than a simple search tool
Spark is designed as a search utility, but it also comes with additional options that are designed to ease your work and increase your productivity. While further improvements are recommended, it is a handy tool that can help you look for files and quickly launch programs.
