Overview

What is Wrapper?

Wrapper : Portable program that helps you gather multiple items in one executable file, execute various commands, find and kill processes, as well as modify registry keys and values

In depth

A closer look at Wrapper

Wrapper is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you gather multiple files in a single executable package.

Why opt for portable utilities

Portability ensures that your Windows registry doesn’t get bloated with unnecessary entries. You don’t need to uninstall the program using dedicated tools, as you may simply delete the files that you have grabbed from the Internet.Transferring the tool to a USB flash drive or other portable devices is also possible. You can open the utility by running the EXE file.

User interface and importing options

Wrapper sports a simple layout that provides direct access to several configuration parameters. It lets you import software programs (EXE, COM, SCR), libraries (e.g. DLL, SYS, DRV), pictures (e.g. BMP, DIB, JPG, GIF, PCX, PSD, EMF, ICO), videos (AVI, MOV, MPEG), and text files (INI, TXT, INF, DOC, RTF).The utility reveals a list with all the items and information about each one, such as file or process name, parameters, and extraction directory. In addition, you may specify the order of the items in the list by moving them up or down.

Embedding multiple files in an executable

Wrapper gives you the possibility to add a new item by entering custom parameters and picking the directory where data is extracted. You can make the utility extract files to the current, temporary or system folder, run the file when extracted, and delete items after all programs are closed. What’s more, you are allowed to attach an active process by specifying its name or run a user-defined command, and kill the process or delete it after a restart sessions. Plus, you can modify registry data by adding, removing or altering keys and values.Last but not least, you may remove or edit files, select a custom icon (ICO file format) from your system, choose the output directory where the EXE is saved, as well as save the current project to a file so you can easily import it in the future for modifications.

Bottom line

All in all, Wrapper comes with a decent feature pack for helping you gather multiple files in one execution item. On the downside, it hasn’t been updated for a long time, so it may cause compatibility issues especially on newer operating systems.
