In depth
The game starts with bidding in increments of ten. The highest bidder is allowed to exchange two cards and then gets to lead. The other players must follow suit if they have it, otherwise they can play any other card. The highest card played wins that turn and gets to lead next. The first player over 1000 points wins.
1001 has a nice interface with large, easy-to-read cards, realistic sounds, customizable cards and player names. Card colors and player names can be changed and the settings are saved. To get a quick grasp of the rules, you can try the "learning mode" in which everyone plays with open cards.
New to this version are a greatly improved game engine and an increase in difficulty of the computer opponents.
