is a server that works with WinAMP to broadcast streaming audio across the Internet.SHOUTcast allows anyone with Nullsoft's Winamp audio player and an Internet connection to broadcast audio via the Internet. Content is presented for the SHOUTcast server through Winamp, in the form of MP3, WAV or other filetypes, and/or live audio content via the Live Input plug-in for Winamp. The source content provider chooses what to stream with the familiar Winamp interface. The server has the ability to relay a common stream across multiple SHOUTcast servers to distribute the load.
SHOUTcast servers can optionally submit their status and descriptions back to the SHOUTcast server directory automatically, which allows listeners to browse, listen to, and rate the currently running servers.
The audience uses WinAMP, or another SHOUTcast-compatible client, to enjoy the audio.
