A closer look at ColdFusion Studio

Cold Fusion integrates browser, server and database technologies into applications. Using a page-based application architecture and a server-side markup language called Cold Fusion Markup Language (CFML), it's easy to create dynamic Web applications. Wizards are included for creating basic types of sites, but the CFML language, with over 150 functions, is easy to program in.

Cold Fusion supports a variety of database formats, including FoxPro, Paradox and dBase as well as connections through ODBC. Dynamic SQL statements can be generated on the fly. It comes with a full-text indexing and searching tool. Other features include: SMTP support for dynamically building and sending out e-mail; the ability to retrieve e-mail and create intelligent e-mail applications such as auto-responders and listservs; LDAP support; easy creation of Java and JavaScript forms; and much, much more.

The new development system comprises Cold Fusion Application Server 3.1 for the Windows NT and Solaris operating systems, and Studio, the new integrated development environment that provides the visual tools to complement Cold Fusion Application Server.
