With FreePOP you can find out the number of unread messages in a POP3 mailbox, access the various headers of a message (including subject, date, and from fields), retrieve the contents of a message, selectively delete a message, and read a message directly into a file.

FreePop can handle file sizes up to 64k, but larger files can be retreived directly into a file.
