A closer look at ProtectZ

The program works silently in the background, protecting files and folders (including subdirectories) on your local hard drives. ProtectZ can hide files, or make them undeleteable, unrenameable, unreadable, or unwritable. It can also make attributes unchangeable (i.e., keep files read-only or hidden). You can use wild cards to make selections. For example, you can easily make all EXE, DLL, and COM files unwritable.

Additional settings let you to edit various system policies (such as denying file or printer sharing, disabling the "Run" command, hiding all objects on the Desktop, and much more).
