Make SFX

Make SFX is a very easy to use piece of software developed to help users create self-extracting archives with minimum effort. You don't really need to have a lot of computer experience, because the app relies on a very user-friendly approach and a simple design.Make SFX’s features are concentrated in one single window; the generous set of options is neatly arranged so as not to create the impression of crowdedness. As such, you only need just a few seconds to figure out the purpose of each option.The first steps include choosing the source folder, the executable file (must be located in the source directory) and the target SFX file. Additionally, you are offered options to customize the extraction folder; by default, the TEMP directory is selected, but other four choices are available as well. These include the desktop, the documents or the current folder or a custom location that allows the use of environment variables.An Advanced Options section sports more possibilities to customize the SFX generation process. There is a ‘Silent Extraction mode’ feature that excludes the possibility of viewing the progress bar or additional errors that might occur during extraction.The last, but not least of the options is the ‘Self Destructing Mode’, which we found to be incredibly useful. This particular capability makes it possible to delete the SFX archive after the files have been extracted, thus removing any trace that it ever existed.Truth be told, Make SFX isn't quite the fastest app on Earth and it takes up to one minute to create a SFX archive, but this also depends on the size of the selected files.What's more, we experienced a pretty high CPU usage during our testing, which means that Make SFX may slow down the system a little bit, regardless of the Windows version running on your machine.All things considered, there's no doubt that Make SFX is an application that truly serves its purpose. During our tests, we’ve noticed that it preserves the icon and version of the original executable file, which spears you the efforts of performing these operations yourself.
