PERSONAL PICTURE VIEWER : Enjoy your entire picture collection, or recently captured photos in a cool viewer with a slideshow player, and options to filter according to file format
You probably take some photos with your camera every day, and at the end of it all, go through them to sort, or simply review content. Sure enough you can do this with the Windows built-in picture viewer, but you can also use third-party alternatives like PERSONAL PICTURE VIEWER for more variety.
Can be used on the go
A neat thing about it is you don’t have to go through the effort of getting it to work on your computer, because it requires no installation. This means that system registries are not affected, thus keeping the target PC clean. You do need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on the computer you want to use it on.By default, the application launches in full screen, but this can easily be changed. All you get to work with is found over a preset background picture, which sadly, can’t be changed. A large preview area shows the currently selected picture, which is picked from the side panel after you load a folder.
Leaves more to be desired
Dragging a folder over the main window has no effect, so you need to rely on the built-in browse dialog to pick the folder with your picture collection. A little frustration starts to build up, because results are not shown until you press the trigger button. Once this is done, there’s the possibility to filter content according to file type, which can be JPG, BMP, PNG, JPEG, ICO, and animated GIF files. In case you don’t want to manually go through the whole list, a slideshow can be initiated at the press of a button. However, the default transition speed is set to one second, with no possibility to change this, which is rather disappointing.
A few last words
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that PERSONAL PICTURE VIEWER comes with good intentions, trying to offer a neat alternative to view your picture collection. Sadly, it comes rather underprepared, with little variety in features, poor slideshow, and rather frustrating load, and navigation.
