Andy's File Descriptor : Effortlessly create descriptions for all kinds of files by simply writing down text in a visually appealing and easy to use application

Most of the times when you install a new program on your computer, you’re asked whether or not you want to go through the help manual to get to know the it a bit better. However, Windows lets you view descriptions for quick understanding, but in case some files or applications are not equipped with descriptions, you can use Andy's File Descriptor to manually add one.

Simple visuals quickly get you up and running

It only takes a little while to install the application, so that all functions can blend with your system. Upon launch, you’re greeted by a simple, but pretty intuitive interface that doesn’t pose any accommodation problems. Although stored in a classic window frame, elements are easy to grasp and use because of this simplicity. The way the application works is by selecting a target file using the side panel that’s fitted with a tree view, and creating a new description. All files and folders on your computer are shown in the navigation panel, but there’s no built-in search function for an even faster identification of files. What’s more, there’s no support for drag and drop to quickly add files of interest.

Add details and view changes in real time

Most of the space is used to show the description field, as well as the program name. Once the file is selected, you can use the dedicated function to add a new description. This is done in a new window that pops up, with the same fields as the main window, but this time editable. Unfortunately, you can’t load from an existing TXT file, but you can use copy paste to insert just about any kind and amount of info with little effort,.Apart from description, the application is capable of performing little else, other than specifying where the initial directory takes you whenever the program runs. Sadly, the application hasn’t been updated in some time, and there’s a chance it doesn’t properly get the job done on modern Windows iterations.

To sum it up

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that Andy's File Descriptor isn’t actually what it seems, and not only because of poor visual design, but also because it seems to lack consistency, and you’re not ensured to get the custom description in the end.
