Overview

What is TileMage?

TileMage : Split images into multiple rows and columns using this approachable tool with batch processing support, file naming patterns, and HTML tables

In depth

A closer look at TileMage

TileMage is a practical and easy-to-use application that helps you slice an image file into multiple files by specifying the number of rows and columns. It offers support for JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, WMF and EMF file types.

Clear-cut installation and interface

The setup procedure is fast and shouldn't give you any trouble. Worth noting, though, is that .NET Framework must be installed. It adopts a user-friendly interface made from a standard window split into two panes, where you can configure settings for single or batch processing mode.

Splice photos into multiple rows and columns

After loading an image file, you can preview its thumbnail in the main window and view file properties regarding the dimensions, resolution and file size. It's possible to specify the number of rows and columns, use automatic matching mode, as well as check out tile dimensions concerning the width and height, along with the total file before proceeding with the slicing procedure.

Set output parameters and generate HTML tables

The same configuration rules are applicable to the batch mode, where the only difference is that you can load a whole directory with images instead of single files. As far as output parameters are concerned, TileMage lets you set the file naming pattern, separator, file type, and destination path. It's also possible to swap the saving order and to generate an HTML table by editing the file's name and spacing.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the program didn't hang, crash or prompt error dialogs. It didn't hog system resources, using low CPU and RAM.To conclude, TileMage delivers a fun and effective method for splitting photos into multiple rows and columns placed in separate files, backed by handy customization options and batch processing support. Too bad it hasn't been updated for a while.
