In depth

A closer look at PhotoRazor

Modern cameras, even the one on the back of your phone can take pictures at incredibly high quality specifications, but you don’t need all of those megapixels. As proof, some online services limit you to specific size options, and large pictures also take up way too much disk space. To solve this issue, PhotoRazor allows you to resize your entire collection with a few mouse clicks.

File support, and edit options

The first thing that needs to be done is to load a target folder, and this is only possible through the browse dialog. Image formats like JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, and BMP can be inside the source folder, but keep in mind that sub-directories are not taken into account when loading.Once you decide which collection of pictures you want to resize, all items are shown with thumbnails on a side navigation panel. You can scroll through them, with a small popup generating a preview on mouseover, while selection brings it up in focus, right in the center of the main window. There are several editing options besides those to reduce size, but don’t offer a great variety. Cropping, for instance, is not among them, but you can rotate, and apply a custom color layer over images, but this needs to be done for every picture, since there’s no option to target them all.

Can take a while to process

Aspect ratio of pictures is kept intact, especially because the size slider affects whichever value is greater. You can either change the slider to reach specific size values, or write a desired on in the dedicated field, with an instant preview of change in the main window. Additionally, you can reduce quality to save even more disk space.Speaking of which, an upper status bar updates with size value of the selected picture as you make changes. All minor adjustments have an effect, which makes the size indicator even more helpful. You can choose to process only the selected picture, or all of them to a custom location, and with an option to include a suffix, and prefix in the new file name. The only inconvenience here is that it can take a considerable amount of time to process large collections.

To end with

All things considered, we come to the conclusion that PhotoRazor helps you adjust entire picture collections so they meet specific size, or resolution demands. Although editing options feel a little rough around the edges, size options are easy to handle. The only thing you need more is patience, since it can take some time to get the job done.
