M3G Viewer is an application that enables you to open M3G files produced by Mobile 3D Graphics API, used for creating Java programs with 3D computer graphics. It contains file and graph viewers, along with a couple of intuitive options.

Open and explore M3G files

Packed in a simple and approachable interface, the app invites you to open an M3G object using the file browser. You can check out the property and value of all elements from the available sections, such as camera, background, light, vertex array and buffer.The file and graph panes can be easily toggled, while console details are displayed on the bottom part of the screen.Furthermore, you can extract any selected objects to put them in a newly created M3G file, export all information to plain text document format, copy values to the Clipboard via the right-click menu, restore values to default, as well as resort to a search and replace function within the console messages.

No setup required, besides Java

The tool's not wrapped in an installation kit. Its files can be copied to a preferred directory on the disk or to a removable storage unit, in order to directly run it on any PC with Java. It doesn't add new entries to the system registry.

Evaluation and conclusion

The utility hasn't received updates for a long time and we've encountered an error on startup, since it failed to identify our installed copy of Java. However, this issue was resolved by copying the missing file in the subfolder specified by M3G Viewer. No other issues occurred and it used a minimal amount of CPU and RAM.All in all, this software app facilitates a user-friendly interface and options for opening M3G files generated by Mobile 3D Graphics API to inspect, extract and save information. It's free and open-source.
