DTWAIN is a powerful programmer's library that will allow you to easily integrate TWAIN image acquisition from any TWAIN scanner or digital camera into your applications.DTWAIN is implemented as a 32-bit Dynamic Link Library (DLL) by itself, or as an ActiveX / .NET component developed by THBComponents. DTWAIN has over 350 functions that allow you to communicate with your TWAIN device, adding power and flexibility to the library.If you're a programmer and you are tired of attempting to get TWAIN image retrieval implemented within your application successfully, or do not want to get bogged down in the details of the hard-to-implement TWAIN specification for communicating with TWAIN devices, this library is exactly what you need.DTWAIN Free Version was developed to be a stripped down version of the retail version of DTWAIN.You can acquire only single pages, and only to BMP files if acquiring to a file. If you call a function that is not supported, or call a function with unsupported options, a message box will appear stating that the function is not supported.For the DTWAIN_AcquireFile or DTWAIN_AcquireFileEx functions, the only type that is accepted in the Personal Edition is the DTWAIN_BMP (a Windows BMP) file type. If another type is specified, DTWAIN_AcquireFile(Ex) will return 0 and no acquisition will occur.
  • When the DTWAIN DLL is initially loaded, a message box appears reminding you or your users that they are using a version of DTWAIN that is for personal or in-house use only. The same message box appears once an acquisition starts.
  • Acquisitions are limited to single pages (no multi-page support).
  • TWAIN Data Source is closed after each acquisition.
  • Native Mode acquisitions are supported. Buffered mode is not supported. File mode is supported, but only BMP files can be generated.
  • Default TWAIN source capability values are supported (the application cannot set capabilities). The only settings that are changeable are resolution, contrast, and brightness.
  • A source can only be selected using the TWAIN Select Source dialog.
  • The Source User Interface must be used when acquiring images.
  • TWAIN Message Loop Interception is not supported (must use DTWAIN Modal loop acquisitions)
  • Imprinter and Duplex options are not supported.
