You play Alias Node, a human detective working for Amalgamated Vacuum on the planet Armpit VI. Your order is to track down a dangerous criminal who is wanted for grand theft and murder. You've been sent to The Thirsty Tentacle spaceport bar to apprehend the assailant, but you have no idea who -- or what -- to look for. You must talk with every alien in the bar before the suspect becomes suspicious. When you interact with characters, you must first "Greet" them to introduce yourself. You can then give them orders, ask them about specific topics, or chat with them. You can also use a unique interrogation technique called "empathy-telepathy," in which you access a first-person account of memories from the minds of the aliens you interview. By helping aliens solve their personal problems through their flashbacks, you receive information vital to catching the culprit back in The Thirsty Tentacle.
