In depth

A closer look at Crossfire

Arcade game based on the CBS television series starring Jan Michael-Vincent and Ernest Borgnine as a pair of mercenaries who flew a high-tech military helicopter on various and sundry missions. This is a pretty cool hybrid shooter/action game. It combines a vertical shooter with a vertical scrolling action game, picture a mix of Tiger Heli and Commando and you have an idea of what this game is like. You start out by selecting one of three different missions to tackle (there are 6 in all), then you'll proceed to where you can buy upgrades. You can buy weapons, bombs, and armor for your helicopter, or weapons and extra lives for your soldier. Each mission will award you a different amount of money.

Some of the best include classics like team deathmatch and zombie mode, as well as new favorites like mutation mode and shadow mode. All of them can be played in one of more than 20 well-designed levels. Before you start playing you have the chance to personalize your character's appearance and weapons. There are all kinds of upgrades available for the over twenty different weapons in the game, including pistols, lightweight machine guns, shotguns, rifles, and many more. After each game in crossfire you are awarded experience and other rewards according to how well you played. Here you gain levels and can buy upgrades for your avatar. You also have the option to invest real money to buy upgrades of course. This massive multiplayer first-person shooter game is no accident that more than 400 million users have already signed up.
